"The statistic is that 95% of women will not date a man shorter
than her. This statistic is vastly overused to say "95% of women won't
date us" when actually it means 95% of woman taller than you won't date
you."
Yeah, thanks toots, we know exactly what that number means. The shitty part is that for all the hype about "personality is what counts," women still care quite a bit about height. If you're a girl's soulmate on every aspect, but shorter than her, there's a 95% chance she'd turn you down. Is that not slightly depressing?
I'm sure there are lots of men who wouldn't date a girl taller than they are, but I'll have to find a statistic to compare. There was one source claiming "it found that 13.5 percent of the men wanted to date only women shorter than they are," but it followed up with, "in contrast, nearly half of the women – 48.9 percent – wanted to date only men taller than they are."
48.9 is better than 95, but either way, while our man-hating culture tries to pretend women are the hopeless romantics while men are shallow pigs, the numbers show otherwise.
